Applications

It Is Hydrogenated in a Solvent to Generate 2-Ethylhydroanthraquinone, And Then Reoxidized to Generate 2-Ethylanthraquinone and Hydrogen Peroxide. This Reaction Is Used in Industry to Produce Hydrogen Peroxide. It Is Prepared by the Friedel-Crafts Reaction of Phthalic Anhydride and Ethylbenzene, And Can Also Be Prepared by the Diels-Alder Diene Synthesis and Dehydrogenation Reaction of 1,4-Naphthoquinone and 2-Ethyl-1,3-Butadiene. It Is Used to Prepare Hydrogen Peroxide and as a Dye Intermediate. It Is Also Used as a Photosensitizer for Photosensitive Resins, A Catalyst for Photocurable Resins, Photodegradable Films, Coatings and Photosensitive Polymerization Initiators.
